During his report to the School Committee at the December 18 meeting, Superintendent Jon Sills spoke about a year-old effort to strengthen ties between Bedford and area colleges that has already borne fruit.
“We’re becoming better at communicating the uniqueness of our students and our programs,” Sills said. “With just a third of our kids reporting the results of early admissions, we have wonderful [news so far] this year: eight kids at Northeastern, one student at Tufts, two students at Yale, one student at Harvard, two students at UPenn, a student at Brown…Johns Hopkins, Holy Cross, Clark University, UMass Boston, Bridgewater State—a wonderful range of schools. Our kids are doing great. Our Guidance department reaching out to schools and building bridges is paying off.”
Early admission does not always translate to attendance since some acceptances are binding while others are not. However, students often apply early admission or early action to the college where they most hope to matriculate.
