The Bedford Citizen has been covering the Outdoor Recreation Area Study Committee (click here to read our first story or click here to read our second story) and now reports the motion that  the committee passed unanimously during its meeting on Tuesday, August 7.

The ORASC [Outdoor Recreation Area Study Committee] has determined, based on an analysis of data collected regarding the comprehensive inventory and condition of Bedford’s fields, the demand for fields and a comparison to other municipalities, that the inventory of fields in Bedford is inadequate to supply the level of demand from all users. Thus, per the request of the Selectmen, the ORASC will develop a comprehensive field expansion plan.”

We thank Outdoor Recreation Area Study Committee Chairman David Sukoff for keeping The Citizen informed, and will share updates with our readers when they are available.

Thanks for covering this story. It would be very useful if the committee could provide some details supporting their conclusion. If resolving the issues involves asking the town for a significant investment, now would be a good time to begin laying the groundwork with underlying data.
