Volunteers sought for committees

The Town of Bedford is looking for residents interested in serving on one or more non-elected committees that have vacancies as of July 1, 2012.  There is no specific professional background or experience required to fill these positions; persons with varied areas of expertise and/or interest are encouraged to apply.

Committees with current vacancies include:  Affordable Housing, Arbor Resources, Bicycle Advisory, Cable TV Advisory, Energy Task Force, Fair Housing, Historic District Commission (Alternate), Historic Preservation Commission, Housing Partnership, Patriotic Holiday, Sign By-Law Review, Trails and Transportation Advisory.

Descriptions of the roles and work of these committees can be found online at the Town’s website, www.bedfordma.gov by clicking on “Publications” and finding the link to the 2011 Annual Town Report under the “Town Government” section of publications.

Information about these committees also is available by contacting a member of the Volunteer Coordinating Committee (VCC); simply click on the “volunteer” link on the VCC page of the Town’s website which will automatically send an email to all three Committee members: Carol Amick, Patty Carluccio and Joe Piantedosi.  Or get information from the Town Manager’s Office (781-275-1111) or from the VCC Chair, Carol Amick, at 781-275-5278.

Residents who are registered voters and who would like to volunteer are encouraged to submit a Volunteer Questionnaire, available online at www.bedfordma.gov or from the Town Manager’s Office or any VCC member.  The Town Manager’s Office also can provide information regarding the committees’ meeting schedules.
