Emerson Hospital in Concord recognized two Bedford volunteers for outstanding service at its 2012 Volunteer Awards and Appreciation Luncheon.
Former hospital employee and six-year volunteer Joan Larsen was presented with Emerson’s Helping Hands Certificate of Appreciation for her dedicated service to patient care in Behavioral Health Services.
One nominator wrote, “Joan contributes so much to our unit. She is the kind visitor for the patient who does not have anyone to support them; she is the person who can bring a smile or a laugh to the most despondent patient. She freely gives of herself.”
A 2012 Volunteer Recognition award was presented to Leslie Lowry, a familiar face at the main entrance of the hospital, for her more than 6,000 hours as a reception volunteer.
“We are very appreciative to our volunteers for their many hours, years and even decades of service,” said Sharon Knox, director of Community Services at Emerson Hospital. “Each one makes a tremendous difference in the comfort and care of our patients.”
