Bedford Recreation Department Getting Kids on Track with Spring Track Clinic

Submitted by Nikki Taylor, Bedford Assistant Director of Recreation

The Bedford Recreation Track Clinic, coached by David Bell and his staff, wrapped up its 21st spring season with a regional meet at the Bedford High School track on June 9. More than 50 Bedford runners in grades 3-8 took part in the clinic offered by the Bedford Recreation Department.

The first Bedford Recreation clinic was held in 2003 and, despite a break in 2020, the program has continued to grow and thrive throughout the years. This clinic is fun and informational, putting an emphasis on learning, improving, having fun, and challenging yourself as a runner.

The regional track meet held this past Sunday included participants from Bedford, Lexington, Lincoln, Concord, and Burlington, bringing the total number of meet participants to 180. Runners were able to participate in a variety of events, including the 50, 100, 200, 400, and 800 meters. In addition to the track events, participants also had the opportunity to compete in the long jump and softball throw.

The Recreation Department congratulates all of the participants on a successful meet and track season. They are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these Bedford runners.
