Bedford High athletes who were medalists in overall DCL meet results were led by sophomore Zadie Buckley, who had the best time for the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 18.43 seconds. That time is less than one second shy of the BHS record for the girls’ event, noted Coach Richard Donnelly.

Jonny Garraway placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:20.86, setting a school record that had stood for 19 years. Garraway now holds both the indoor and outdoor BHS records for the mile. After that race, he ran the 400 with the fifth best overall time of 52.15 seconds.

Martin Nguyen had the second longest distance in the triple jump at 41 feet, 7.5 inches. Jacob Hollingsworth was second overall in the javelin, throwing 143.1 feet. Finishing third overall were Carter Rauch in the 800 in 156.65, Ciara Shelton in the high jump with 4-8, and Mekhi Volcy in the shot put at 44 feet.

Qualifying athletes will compete in the Division 4 regional meet next weekend. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams finished the regular season with three wins and one loss and placed second in the DCL small.
