And All that Jazz! Last Concert in First Parish Series, April 27

April 24, 2024

Local musicians are getting together on Saturday, April 27 at First Parish on the Common for an evening of jazz. The house lights go up at 7 p.m.

People may recognize their names: all have performed in Bedford and the Boston area for years. Dean Groves is on bass, Steve Sussman on piano, and Buffie Groves is vocalist. Special guests are Dave Southard on saxophone, and Emory Carroll on drums.

Many will remember Emory as the drummer boy who strolled around Bedford neighborhoods during the pandemic, bringing some music and cheer to housebound residents. He is now a sophomore at Bedford High School.

Steve Sussman plays regularly for Sunday services and other occasions at First Parish. Buffie and Dean Groves, a brother-sister duo, come by their musical “chops” naturally. Their mother, the late Alice Groves, was a vocalist with Boston area swing bands and jazz groups for decades.

Dave Southard has performed with the Concord Band and with theatre and jazz ensembles in the Boston area for many years.

Bar snacks will be available.

Suggested donations are $20 and $15 for seniors/students, at the door. Proceeds benefit First Parish.  The church is handicap accessible.
