Speaker:  Virginia Steel's presentation:  Many kinds of wood went into the construction and furnishing of a house in the 1720s and into its tools and fences. This wood was all obtained and worked locally. With her interests in botany, history and woodworking, Virginia Steel will survey the scene of locally available woods and the processes by which trees were made into useful products. What were the roles of water power, swamps, winter freezes, and
