The Gallant Buccaneers

Four long years ago, they headed out of harbor
Out to the edge of the world
On a good ship called “The Bedford”
They said, “Bring me that horizon!”
It was standing proud as all the sails unfurled

So sail on you Gallant Buccaneers
On a sea of waves and foam
It’s all a journey, not just a destination
and you’ll always find your way back home

Such a crew, culled from different places
with many stories of the things they’d done
A single heart with many different faces
to run this ship, they’d have to work as one.

So sail on you Gallant Buccaneers
On a sea of waves and foam
It’s all a journey, not just a destination
and you’ll always find your way back home

But on that trip, the dark clouds did gather
The tempest tossed the mighty ship all night
But they buckled down, and battened all the hatches
Until they saw the morning light

And as the sun shone on all their faces
they thought of all the love at home
It was a different journey, not the one that they expected
But they knew they’d never be alone

So sail on you Gallant Buccaneers
On a sea of waves and foam
It’s all a journey, not just a destination
and you’ll always find your way back home.
