The first meeting of the Friends of the Bedford Council on Aging (FBCOA) board will be on Tuesday, September 19th at 1:00 in the Flint Room on the second floor of the COA building and is open to all residents. Your 2023-2024 membership dues are due and can be paid at this time.

The Friends of the Bedford Council on Aging (FBCOA) board meeting schedule is the 3rd Tuesday of the months September, October, November, January, April, and June at 1 PM. These meetings are open to the public and you are encouraged to come.  Your input is valued and welcomed.  The next meeting is Tuesday Nov. 21. These meetings are held at the Bedford COA, in the lower level of the yellow Town Center Building on Mudge Way (park in the back next to the skate park) The Friends of the Bedford Council on Aging (FBCOA) is a private, nonprofit 501c3 organization

Caring for the Caregiver

Caregivers come in all ages, genders, and backgrounds. They provide care, support, and love for spouses, parents, children, grandchildren, various family members, and friends of all ages and conditions. They juggle a multitude of responsibilities, emotions, and challenges while providing care, frequently 24-7, and without a support system of their own. A recent national AARP survey disclosed that there are approximately 48 million unpaid caregivers in the United States. They serve as a crucial part of our health care system and represent about $600 billion in unpaid labor each year. Being a caregiver also comes with personal expense and increases
