Bedford High School Playwright’s Festival

Bedford High School 9 Mudge Way, Bedford

The Bedford High School (MA) Theater Department presents the fourth annual Playwright’s Festival on Saturday, May 7th, 2022! The nine plays in this festival are written, directed, and designed by BHS students. The playwrights are Ben Couvée, Charlie Desjardins, Dylan DeJesus, Kai Etringer, Cate Galante, Connor McClung, John Mitchell, Ethan Washington, and Emily Zhu. There are about twenty-five students involved as actors, directors, designers, or writers. The performance will culminate in an optional talk-back with the writers and the directors of the plays. Audience members will have the chance to ask the writers and directors specific questions about the process

BHS Spring Instrumental Concert

The Bedford High School Performing Arts Department will present its annual Spring Instrumental Concert on Tuesday, May 17, at 7:00pm in the BHS Auditorium. The band, orchestra, and specialized ensembles will perform. POMS will be on hand to recognize our graduating seniors, with the presentation of POMS scholarships and a reception with cake in the lobby after the concert. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

BHS Honor’s Choir joins Polymnia Choral Society for Considering Matthew Shepard

On Sunday, March 5th, the BHS Honors Choir will be performing the choral masterwork Considering Matthew Shepard with Polymnia Choral Society in Melrose, MA. This choral masterwork focuses on telling the story of Matthew's life, his death, and how his death (and the death of James Byrd Jr. in June of 1998) became the impetus of change in how the US dealt with hate crimes. The concert lobby will feature tables of nonprofits and organizations that help people in the LGBTQ+ community and/or work to end racism. The Bedford High School Performing Arts Department will present TWELFTH NIGHT, the classic Shakespearean comedy about love and mistaken identity, November 17 and 18 at 7:00pm in the BHS Auditorium. Tickets $14/adult & $12/student. The BHS Performing Arts Department will present “THE ADDAMS FAMILY – A NEW MUSICAL” on Wednesday-Saturday, in the Buckley Auditorium at BHS.
