Town Historian Sharon McDonald has been researching the history of slavery in Bedford. It confounded her to find out there were enslaved people here in Bedford in its early days! Who were they? When did their bondage end? What happened to the freed slaves? And was there Underground Railroad activity here before the Civil War?
