Bedford Town Trail Walk 9:45 am Sat. Sept. 8 to Town Campus and Elm Brook led by Ralph Hammond & joined by Sharon McDonald, Bedford Town Historian

Description: Please join the Bedford Trails Committee for a free two-part Trail Walk to explore the Town Campus, led by Ralph Hammond, and joined by Sharon McDonald, Bedford Town Historian. Ralph and Sharon will share many stories about Bedford’s history, including the COA building.

We will start at the Library and walk across Town Center, pick up the Town Campus Trail and follow that to the Middle School athletic field. We’ll continue along the Bay Circuit Trail (Minuteman Bikeway Extension) to explore the Elm Brook Conservation Land Loop, then return to the Library following parts of the High School Cross Country Route.  Among many other parts of this walk through history will be to discover a Shawsheen River / Concord River Divide, and a long lasting property dispute.

This should be a fun walk for people of all walking abilities, and mostly flat all the way, but with some tree roots. The trail walk will last about one (1) hour if just doing the Town Campus, or add an additional hour if including the continuation along to the Elmbrook Conservation Land loop.  Total time 2 hours.

 When and     We meet at 9:45 AM at the parking lot behind the Bedford Free Public

Notes:            Please note portions of the trail may be seasonally wet.  Children and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome.  Remember to protect yourself from ticks. We will walk rain or shine.
