Middlesex Community College will continue the Spring 2022 “A World of Music” concert series with a performance featuring MCC Music Faculty.
Pianist, and MCC’s Chair of the Music Department, Carmen Rodríguez-Peralta, is looking forward to performing with her colleagues, including flutist Orlando Cela, clarinetist Todd Brunel and cellist Johnny Mok for what “should be a fun evening!”
“We will be performing beautiful works by Mikhail Glinka and Gabriel Fauré from the 1800s, as well as a colorful early 20th century piece for cello and piano by Manuel de Falla, which reflects the composter’s interest in Spanish folk music,” Rodríguez-Peralta said.
“From our current century there will be a wonderfully crafted Prelude and Fugue for piano by Boston composer Larry Belly, inspired by the music of J.S. Bach; as well as an energetic, rhythmic piece for flute, clarinet and piano by Guillaume Connesson influenced by techno music. We will end with a tango by Carlos Gardel arranged for all of us.”
The performance will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 11 at MCC’s Concert Hall in Bedford. Middlesex requires all audience members to present proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and wear masks at all times.
Upcoming performances throughout the Spring 2022 semester include the Dylan Jack Quartet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 10 at MCC’s Academic Arts Center in Lowell and a Middlesex Student Recital at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3 in Bedford. The first concert of the series was a performance by the Lowell Chamber Orchestra.
