Come for a party and a last look at Handscapes, pots by Cathy Comstock and Carol Rissman’s wall-hung ceramics, closing at the end of February at the Concord Public Library gallery. Rissman, from Bedford, prints, paints and carves handmade ceramic tiles using abstract and natural imagery.

“I’m very interested in patterns and textures in nature. Using leaves, grasses, branches and other natural objects, my work attempts to capture the feeling of the landscape.”

Comstock, a Concord artist, creates “artifacts” using seeds, roots and other natural objects. In a process she invented, Comstock builds the pots, then sands the surface to a marble smoothness, sometimes using sandpaper as fine as 12000 grade and taking up to three months to finish.
