Bedford Town Trail Walk Sat. Nov. 10 (postponed from Nov. 3) around Fawn Lake, led by Bob McClatchey
November 10, 2018 @ 9:45 am - 12:00 pm
Free
Please join the Bedford Trails Committee for a free trail walk around Fawn Lake, led by Bob McClatchey. We’ll walk around the lake, taking note of wildlife and several important and historic sites along the way. We’ll discuss the history of Fawn Lake, including some first-hand information provided to Bob by Ellen Hayden back in the 1970’s. We’ll briefly walk up past the home once owned by Ellen Hayden and also note the location of the early 20th Century Sweetwater Hotel.
Our walk will take about 1.5 hours and is about 1.5 miles long. The terrain is mostly flat, but does contain a few rocks and roots. Bring walking sticks if they would help you on such trails.
Where: We meet at 9:45 AM at the parking lot behind the Bedford Free Public Library (7 Mudge Way). Alternatively, you can meet us at the Fawn Lake parking lot off Sweetwater Rd. (see map at link below), where we will depart at 10:10 am sharp. From Bedford, go north on Great Road to North Road (Route 4). Follow North Road for 1.4 miles, then turn right at Sweetwater Rd. The parking lot is 0.4 miles on the right.
Notes: Please note portions of the trail may be seasonally wet. Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing appropriate to the weather. Children and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. We will walk if clear or light rain.
