Bedford Lyceum: Choir Director, Brad Conner, Gives a Presentation about Tchaikovsky

March 18, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 9:50 am

March 18 – Brad Connor on Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Brad Conner, our very own Music Director and in-house Musicologist, will give a presentation on Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) anticipating the music for the upcoming Tenebrae and Easter services when the adult choir and instrumentalists will perform works by the beloved Russian composer to honor the 125th anniversary of his death.  Many only know Tchaikovsky through the annual outings of the “The Nutcracker”, while, in fact, the composer has the rare distinction of writing an acknowledged masterpiece in every genre of music.  Brad will talk about Tchaikovsky’s musical ouput, but will also explore the emotional depth of his compositions inspired by literary sources as well as his personal life dealing with depression and being a gay man in late 19th century Russia.  Elizabeth Connors, clarinet, will also be performing.
