Founded in 1956, the Bedford Arts and Crafts Society (BACS) is dedicated to promoting appreciation and enjoyment of fine art and crafts. From an initial membership of three, the group has grown to more than eighty members from Bedford, Massachusetts, and surrounding towns.

In support of its mission, the society provides rich learning opportunities in varied artistic media and crafts. The club’s yearly calendar features three artist demonstrations, three hands-on painting and craft workshops, and informal weekly crafting get-togethers. Through an arrangement with the Bedford Recreation Department, BACS also co-sponsors classes taught by professional artists and crafters.

Interested members’ artwork is exhibited in two rooms in the Bedford Town Center building. BACS artists have sold various works from these galleries through the years.

Members take great pleasure in awarding an annual scholarship to a graduating high school student from the town. The scholarship funds are raised through the sale of members’ artwork and crafts.
