A Walt Whitman Celebration

On May 31, 2019, First Parish will celebrate the 200thbirthday of Walt Whitman with the unveiling of Joe Brogan Murphy’s new painting of Walt Whitman in the Bacon Room at 6:30. In addition to desserts, there will be readings of Whitman’s poetry and a general celebration of the Gallery’s 7thyear. Artist Joe Brogan Murphy recently completed his painting of the poet Walt Whitman showing the interior of Whitman’s home in Camden, New Jersey even to the point of showing the portrait of Ralph Waldo Emerson that hung in that room.Please join us in celebrating this combination of art and poetry.
