This summer, Bedford teen Symona Baiatian will serve as emissary of the arts along with seven other suburban and urban teens from the greater Boston area as the Reach: Summer Outreach Dance/Teen Apprenticeship Dance Program returns to meeting in-person and celebrates its 33rd anniversary! Reach’s free performance will be held on the BU campus in the 766 Commonwealth Ave. parking lot on Wednesday, August 2, 7-8pm (rain location: BU Dance Theater at 915 Commonwealth Ave.). This Friday, August 4 from 1 – 2 pm, everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the free performance of “Broadway Junior Revue: Raise Your Voice,” performed by the Bedford Recreation Department Junior Summer Stock cast. The performance will take place in the air-conditioned JGMS Auditorium located at 99 McMahon Road. To mark this pivotal moment in Bedford’s history, the Friends of Bedford Depot Park will host "Railroad Day," a celebration of the 150th anniversary of what was the beginning of a century of rail service to Bedford. In addition to pantry staples, we provide produce, meat, and dairy products as well as feminine care, diapers, household items, and pet food. The Bedford Food Bank service is intended for Bedford residents of all ages for whom provision of food and other supplies will support the health and well-being of the household. JOB LANE FARM MUSEUM FAMILY FIELD DAY. Step back in time for a delightful afternoon of family fun at Bedford’s colonial Job Lane Farm Museum! Take a tour of the house and barn. Watch a demonstration by a Minuteman Company. Learn about colonial trades and crafts. Get up close to farm animals at Farmer’s Helpers petting zoo; play with stilts, rolling hoops, and other old-time toys and games. Help make hand-cranked ice cream (and enjoy some Bedford Farms ice cream afterward). Go on a scavenger hunt. Hear a talk about herbs in our herb garden. Help operate a cider press.
Colors of Concord: The Grassy Plain features artworks created by Umbrella 2022-2023 Artist-in-Residence, Ponnapa Prakkamakul. Following a year of intensive outreach to underrepresented members of the Concord community, Prakkamakul has created a series of site-specific new artworks inspired by the people and places she discovered there. The work is on view in The Umbrella’s Main Gallery from August 21-September 15, 2023, with an Opening Reception and Artist Talk on Sunday, Aug 27, 3-5PM.
