What’s Bedford Thinking: Summer Concerts

August 4, 2023
The Bedford Free Summer Concert series has been entertaining a lawn full of spectators during the first three concerts. Renee & The Renegades is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. with an inflatable obstacle course.

We’re one month away from Labor Day.

With longer daylight hours, (generally) good weather, and more scheduled vacation time, summer is the unofficial concert season.

Summer concerts can run a big scale of venue, genre, and ticket cost, from the free Bedford Concert Series near the playground, to Taylor Swift at Gillette, James Taylor at Tanglewood, Zac Brown Band or Guns’N’Roses at Fenway, 50 Cent or Foreigner at the Xfinity Center, Lionel Richie at the TD Garden-there are many options for live performances in the area from May to September.

Nationally, with many artists (and audiences) making up tour dates from before the pandemic, 2023 has seen a surge in demand for concert tickets. Live Nation, the parent company of Ticketmaster, reported $5.63 billion in revenue for the second quarter of this year.

Whether you are heading to Gillette, Fenway Park, Xfinity Center, TD Garden, House of Blues, Leader Bank Pavilion, Hatch Shell, Hampton Beach, Bedford Free Summer Concerts the Bedford “Activity Complex,” heading to see the BHS students Zach Shen and the Funky Bunch play Springs Brook Park (Friday, Aug. 11 at 5 p.m.), or somewhere else, we’re wondering if live music is on your summer bucket list?
