Bedford has been designated a Massachusetts Green Community for several years.
That’s all about converting to alternative energy. And occasionally that energy is intense, but fleeting.
According to Bedford police, the dispatcher received a 9-1-1 call Saturday, May 27, just past 11:15 p.m. from a resident concerned about his neighbor’s welfare.
“Caller reports he hears a lot of yelling and someone repeatedly yelling, ‘Oh, my God,’” the police log entry reads.
Three police vehicles responded to what was labeled an “unknown problem.”
When they arrived and interviewed the people inside, officers realized the “problem” was actually a celebration. “The occupants are excited Celtics fans who were watching the game. No emergencies,” police reported.
Maybe there were no emergencies after Derrick White’s dramatic putback with a tenth of a second on the clock produced a one-point victory for the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Less than 48 hours later, the new source of green energy evaporated when the Celtics were eliminated by Miami.
