Westford Academy defeated Bedford High School on Monday, 4-2, in a crisp Dual County League game featuring a duel between two seniors headed for intercollegiate softball.
Megan Strzegowski led the Grey Ghosts with seven innings of four-hit pitching. She struck out 12 Buccaneers. Kaylee Grace also pitched a complete game for Bedford, allowing two runs in the fourth innings and single runs in the fifth and sixth. Grace’s single in the sixth inning drove home the two Bedford runs.
Next year Grace expects to be playing at St. Bonaventure University and Strzegowski for Keene State College.
Sami Langone (two), Addi Poulter, and Lulu Steele had the other Buccaneer base hits. Coach Dennis Walsh praised Alice Cooprider’s performance at catcher.
