The Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) joined local Girl Scout troops at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford for the annual Cookies for a Cause event last Saturday.
GSEMA donated more than 14,000 packages of Girl Scout cookies through the Cookies for a Cause program with a large portion distributed to military members at the event.
Hanscom AFB and local military-connected organizations received the cookies via hand-delivery from Girl Scouts during this drive-thru style event.
Girl Scouts also handcrafted thank-you cards to accompany donated cookies for the military in the U.S. and overseas.
The Cookies for a Cause program donates cookies to military organizations, food pantries, first responders, and other local charities. Girl Scout CEO Barbara Fortier, Hanscom AFB installation commander Col. Taona Enriquez, and installation command chief CMSgt Alan Weary offered remarks during the event.
