Ask Aunt Laura:

Planting tomato plants deeply is something many might not know about or are afraid to do. Nipping off lower leaves, planting the stem in the soil and removing tomato buds can be a leap of faith, so if you are a bit hesitant, try this method with a few of your tomato transplants and plant the others as you normally would. Don’t forget to add companion plants for natural pest control, too!
