The Bedford Citizen Receives Cummings Community Giving Donation

By Elizabeth Hacala

It is not always easy to know if The Citizen is having an impact on the community.  It is always a pleasure to hear from our readers how much they appreciate and value The Bedford Citizen and how our reporting affects and informs them.

Recently, we learned about our impact in a new and exciting way.  A dedicated Citizen reader contacted us to say she had nominated us for a $1000 grant through the Cummings Community Giving program.  Through some work she had done in conjunction with Cummings, they offered to make a $1,000 donation to local non-profits that are near and dear to the participant’s hearts.  She said The Bedford Citizen jumped out to her as an obvious choice because of the way we help keep the community informed and provide access to local information.

“We all really appreciate the coverage of The Bedford Citizen, and especially your local focus. As working parents of two busy, young kids…. we don’t have a lot of time to read the paper. It has been incredibly helpful to have a curated set of local impact stories so that we can remain engaged in and informed on our community.” the reader said.

The Bedford Citizen is grateful to The Cummings Foundation for this generous opportunity and to our dedicated Citizen reader for thinking of us. As a non-profit news source, we rely on the generosity of our community to keep us going.
