The Relay for Life Committee at Bedford High School has scheduled a fundraising event for Friday evening, April 28, focusing on younger children.
Kids Night Out is planned for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Davis School. (Parents may drop children off between 5:30 and 5:50 p.m.)
The lineup features dinner (pizza, fruit, snacks, and water), organized games, crafts, and sports.
Relay for Life, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 27 and continue until 6 a.m. the following day at Sabourin Field, has been a major local fundraising event benefiting the American Cancer Society since 2006.
At the actual relay, at least one representative from each participating team moves around the track throughout the 14 hours. The volunteers solicit pledges and donations for their involvement.
This is the first time the organizing committee has presented pre-relay events such as Kids Night Out to supplement the fundraising outcome.
