An Obituary: Grace Jardine “Molly” (McGee) Petroskey

Grace Jardine “Molly” (McGee) Petroskey from Lake Leelanau, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the age of 88. Grace was born on Feb. 7, 1935.

She is predeceased by her parents, James Gordon McGee and Grace Jardine McGee, and siblings Sharon and Michael. Molly is also predeceased by her husband Frederick T. Petroskey. Molly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Molly married Frederick Petroskey in 1957, and they were blessed with three children, Dominique, Elizabeth, and Michael.

In 1968, they moved to Massachusetts, where they both pursued teaching careers while raising their children. Molly was a beloved teacher for more than 40 years, including at the Lt. Job Lane School in Bedford. She touched the lives of many students and colleagues with her kindness, intelligence, and passion for learning.

In 1984, after their children had grown, Molly and Frederick moved back to Lake Leelanau where Molly continued to teach at St. Mary’s until her retirement in 1997.

 Molly is survived by her daughter Dominique and her husband Leo Wyatt of Pepperell, her daughter Elizabeth and her husband Neil Hause of New London, New Hampshire, and her son Michael Petroskey and his wife Elizabeth (Fannon) Petroskey of Grantham, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gregory and Benjamin Romanowicz, Samuel Wyatt, George and Harrison Hause, James and Amy (Gallanter) Petroskey, Katie, and Thomas Petroskey and great grandson Jack Frederick Petroskey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A service will be held in her honor at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 22 at St. John’s Chapel at Groton School, 282 Farmers Row, Groton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s School in Lake Leelanau, Michigan (https://www.stmarysll.org/) or to the charity of one’s choice.
