Letter to the Editor: Bopha Malone has Earned Second Term on Select Board; Vote for her on March 11

-Submitted by Anne Caron and Heather Leavell

We write this letter to express our wholehearted support for Bopha Malone’s reelection to the Bedford Select Board. We have known Bopha for several years and have always been impressed by her willingness to connect with, listen to, and support community members.

When we began advocating for Indigenous Peoples Day in Bedford, we reached out to Bopha for advice on the process. She carefully walked us through the many steps required to have an article included on the Warrant and explained the complexities of Town Meeting voting procedures. She was also an active advocate for the Indigenous Peoples Day Article. She voted in favor of its inclusion on the Warrant and again in favor of a Select Board recommendation to approve it. She encouraged us to attend one of her Bedford Connects meetings to educate our community about the effort.

Bopha empowered us with the tools we needed to move our community forward. Time and support are gifts that she gives freely, despite her many other commitments to the Town, her family, and her work.

Bopha also understands that we cannot achieve a more healthy, just, and peaceful future without a commitment to climate action, housing diversity, accessibility, and initiatives that celebrate and uplift marginalized communities. She has demonstrated her commitment to these values by supporting the work of many community organizations, including the Energy and Sustainability Committee, Mothers Out Front, the Parents Diversity Council, Bedford Embraces Diversity, and the Food Bank.

In her next term, Bopha will continue to nurture a culture of mutual respect and trust between the Select Board and Bedford citizens so that we can work together for a more accessible, livable, and inclusive town. Please join us in voting for Bopha Malone on March 11!
