It’s March, the snow turns to slush, the birds return, and a large part of the country starts caring about college basketball. It is reported that there are 60 million to 100 million brackets filled out each year. Last year, 17 percent of Americans wagered approximately $3.1 billion on men’s March Madness alone – just the men’s bracket. That number does not include the secondary tournaments or the women’s brackets. This also doesn’t include the informal bets, office pools, etc.
Since last year, many states have changed their laws to make sports betting legal, including Massachusetts.
