Look ahead to spring by signing up for the Bedford Arts and Craft Society’s upcoming workshop, “Create a Floral Arrangement Using Design Principles.” This in-person event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Bedford.

The instructor, Cindy Mattson, is the longtime owner of Given Erwin Florist in Burlington. She teaches floral design at the shop, as well as for adult ed programs, women’s groups, and floral industry events.

A student in one of Cindy’s recent workshops says this about the class, “I found the experience both informative and fun and really enjoyed bringing home my creation. Cindy kept the atmosphere relaxed and was encouraging to all students— even this novice!”

At the BACS workshop, Cindy will explain the design principles behind three sample arrangements. Students will then choose what design to follow in creating their own unique display. A variety of fresh spring flowers will provide further inspiration.

For $40, participants will receive two hours of training from an expert floral designer and take home a gorgeous spring centerpiece.

Sign up by Thursday, March 9, at [email protected] to take part. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with further information.

This program is funded in part by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
