Please join the selected artists of the 2023 Biennial Community Art Show at a reception on Sunday, March 19 from 5-6 p.m. at the Bedford Free Public Library.
The community show, which returned to the library after an extended Covid vacation, includes 29 diverse pieces. The public is invited to the Meet the Artists reception and will have a chance to meet and talk to the artists selected to exhibit their work in the juried show as well as view the art. The show will be on display until May 11 during library hours.
“My goal for the Bedford Library exhibition was to survey the range of techniques… and to choose from among them a variety of media,” says juror Jane Deering, a former gallery director who is currently active with both Concord Art and the Concord Museum. She says schools have limited art appreciation curricula resulting in the public knowing less about methods of artistic expression. “Oil paintings are treasured,” she says, “but what about work in textile and fiber? lumen prints? batik painting? collage? copper etchings…etcetera, etcetera. The options and possibilities open to us are—and will continue to be—thrilling.”
The artist selected for this year’s show included Rita Maria Ake, Judi Babcock, Peter Bain, Bob Bass, Marcia Bushnell, Florence Como, Frances Grandinetti, Maria Green, Brian Guay, Sirarpi Heghinian-Walzer, Kelly Heim, Ellen Hurley, Calla Kahan-Fagan, Kati Oates, Navyasree Patnam, Taline Saatjian, Pip Shepley, Namrata Siviya, Alexander Slanda, Stanislaw Slanda, Doris Smith, Susan St. Maurice, Gail Terrell, Dan Vlahos, Martha Wakefield, and Laura Wallace.
All are welcome to this free event.
