An Obituary: Vivan R. Benson

Vivan R. (Ericson) Benson, a resident of Carleton-Willard Village, Bedford, MA, died Feb. 26, 2023, at 89.

She was the wife of 53 years of the late Eric V. Benson as well as the mother of Eric S. and his wife Gloria of Stafford, VA; Timothy A. and his wife Jennifer of Bedford, MA; Col. (Ret.) Peter J. and his wife Peggy of Southern Pines, NC; and Lori Ward and her husband Martin of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Vivan was also the grandmother of Annika; Christina and Peter; Kirsten, Anders (Christina), and Erik; and Holly (Mehul) and Cameron (Julia.)  Great grandmother of Finn. She was predeceased by her sister Christina Ericson.

Vivan was a long-time resident of Winchester, where she grew up, graduated from Winchester High, and raised her children. 

Over the years, she worked in several jobs, including in the Winchester High School office, Big L Drugstore, and Osco Drug in Woburn, where she was a pharmacy technician.

She was a devoted lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cambridge, where she was active in various positions. Vivan supported many school, church, and sports activities.

Visiting hours from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford.

Her funeral service will be held on at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 13, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 311 Broadway, Cambridge. Interment to follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the extremely compassionate and caring staff at Carleton-Willard Village.
