Letter to the Editor: McGinley will bring an inclusive perspective to Bedford School Committee

Submitted by Allen Jimerson

Over the past several years, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know Sarah very well.  In addition to us both having children in the district, we also coached baseball together.  In the chaos that is first grade baseball, Sarah always remained a positive and reassuring influence in the dugout.  Furthermore, it was on the field where I was able to observe that her care for the youth of Bedford extended far beyond her own children.

As an African American father with two young kids, issues of inclusion are very important to me. Recent events at the high school and the uncertainty of a new superintendent are among the many things that have created some concern for the future of my children in the district. The election of quality leaders like Sarah McGinley would go a long way in reassuring me that Bedford is a place where all children can feel safe and succeed.

Sarah’s candidacy also excites me for future possibilities.  Her intelligence combined with a desire to listen to all stakeholders, creates fertile ground for the continuous growth and improvement of our school district.

As with all schools, I am certain that Bedford will have many complex issues to navigate in the future.  As a mother, local businesswoman, coach, and friend, Sarah McGinley has the rare breadth of experience to tackle all challenges that our district will face. There is little doubt that she will accomplish this with the intelligence and grace that anyone who knows Sarah is accustomed to.
