Bids Open for Refuse and Recycling Collection Services in Bedford

The Town of Bedford is seeking proposals from qualified vendors (“Proposers” or “Contractors”) for weekly collection, transportation, disposal and recycling services for curbside refuse and single stream recycling for all residential properties in Bedford.

Sealed bids will be received at the office of the Department of Public Works, 314 Great Rd., until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at that time in the Department of Public Works. No faxed or email bids shall be accepted. No conditional bids shall be accepted. No late bids shall be accepted.

Bidders requesting documents must register with valid information. Company name, address and contact information (phone and email) are required in the registration form. It is the bidder’s responsibility to make certain they have received any/all addenda relating to their bid prior to the bid deadline.

The Town currently provides four weeks of leaf and yard waste collection per year (one in the spring, three in the fall), plus one week of Christmas tree collection in January. The Town currently allows residents to schedule one bulky item for collection per week as part of the refuse collection program. Residents may also currently schedule white goods, TVs/electronics, large metal items and tires by appointment on a fee-per-item basis, paid directly to the hauler.

The awarding authority for this contact is the Bedford Select Board and the award of any contract is subject to Town Meeting appropriation.

Wage rates are subject to the prevailing wage rates as contained in the contract documents.
