Ask Aunt Laura Throwback! How to Clean a Front Loading Washing Machine

February 21, 2023

Ask Aunt Laura is taking a short hiatus. We’re replaying some Ask Aunt Laura greatest hits!

This one is a household tip. Whether you are looking ahead to spring cleaning, washing the end of ski/hockey/basketball season clothes, or prepping to switch over a wardrobe, this one might be for you. Originally published in March 2022.

Do you notice that your clothes don’t seem to smell as clean and fresh as they should when you take them out of the washing machine?

I’m betting your machine needs a good cleaning, which will only take a few minutes of effort on your part. Vinegar and Baking Soda will not only leave it sparkling clean (what can’t these two ingredients do?) I swear my clothes come out cleaner too!

For ongoing “maintenance” remember to wipe down the interior of the washing machine after you are done using it to keep mold and bacteria from creeping back in.
