An Obituary: Therese Regina Simmons

Teri Simmons passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 with family by her side at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA. where she volunteered for years.

Born in 1943 in Albany New York to Charles and Helen Simmons, Teri attended Kenwood Academy and studied at the Katie Gibbs School in Miami and then went on to work as an Executive Assistant at ADP for many years. 

She married John P Harcourt Jr. in 1965 with whom she had her children Jay and Sybil. After divorcing, she moved to Massachusetts where she lived most of her life.

Teri was an avid, multi-talented artist and crafter adept at decoupage, card and jewelry making, beading, and felting, and dreamed of showing her works in all the prestigious European museums. She focused locally though, and generously shared her art with the community of friends she found at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bedford.

She is preceded in death by her parents and older brother Charles, and is survived by brothers Steve (wife Janie) of Albany NY and Mark (wife Barbara) of Boston; several nephews and a niece; her children, Jay and husband Ryan of San Francisco and Sybil and husband Armen of Bedford; and her cherished grandchildren Ani and Thomas.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Road, Bedford from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 3.

A Memorial Eucharist in thanksgiving for Teri’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 100 Pine Hill Rd., Bedford at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, which will be followed by a reception at the Lexington Masonic Lodge, 3 Bedford St, Lexington. Teri’s ashes will be interred in the St. Paul’s Memorial Garden, as weather permits.
