Two Bedford High School quartets were medalists in Friday’s Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Division 4 relays at Boston’s Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
The boys’ 4-by-800-meter relay team took third place in their race with a time of 8:28.31. In the process, they set a school record – more than three seconds faster than the previous record set in 2018.
The running order was Josh Garraway, Oren Brosgol, Jonny Garraway, and Carter Rauch. Their outcome was less than five seconds off the winning time.

Also qualifying for a medal in the 4-by-800 was the BHS girls’ team, which finished fourth with a time of 10:34.45. The team’s running order was Grace Niu, Anna Massaro, Addi Poulter, and Farrah Scott.
Overall, the Bedford girls finished 15th in the relays and the boys were 17th.
The Dual County League regular season concludes this week, with the DCL championships scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11. The MIAA Division 4 meet is on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Several Bedford athletes have already qualified for the divisionals with their performances this season. Rauch, who in a Jan. 10 meet broke the BHS record in the 600-meter run, will compete in that event. Rauch’s time of 1:24.14 broke the previous record, which was two years old, by less than half a second.
Other divisional qualifiers are Jonny Garraway and Poulter, each mile and two-mile; Jessica Lin, shot put; Josh Garraway, 55-meter hurdles; Niu, 1,000-meter run; and Massaro, mile.
