Election 2023: Steven Hagan: Candidate for Bedford Planning Board

December 19, 2022

~Submitted by Steven Hagan

I am currently a member of the Bedford Planning Board (Chair) and am interested in serving another term.

The Town of Bedford has multiple large residential projects in progress as well as industrial/commercial projects. Part of my value add to the Planning Board is my knowledge and appreciation of the current zoning and construction bylaws, as well as potential enhancements that would make Bedford more attractive to businesses and create more affordable housing.

My experience in engineering enhances my abilities to read plot plans, construction drawings, and other documents and descriptions of projects.

In addition, I have been a member of the Bedford Conservation Commission for more than 15 years, serving as chair multiple times. Since new projects often abut wetlands or their buffer zones, this knowledge has been a useful skill.

Work: I have been a Vice President of Engineering at Oracle Corporation for many years, have managed people (small groups through 250) and many projects, at several corporations in several countries. I’m experienced in negotiations and the arts of compromise for the greater good.

A relevant technical skill is Geospatial technologies – this is one of the groups I manage at Oracle; relevant users include the EPA (US and European), NOAA, USGS, Land Management agencies world-wide, and I was chair of a United Nations committee.

I am also experienced in reading and interpreting government regulations: Federal /State/Local – due to experience at MITRE corporation as well.

I would appreciate your vote at the citizens caucus and town election.

Steven Hagan,
43 Concord Rd., Bedford
