December 5, 2022

Nine fall varsity sports teams. Three Dual County League players-of-the-year. One coach-of-the-year.

Not a bad season for Bedford High School.

Eric Miles was named Player-of-the-Year in football, Sydney Cox Player-of-the-Year in girls’ soccer, and Gabriela Zovko the same award in volleyball. And football Head Coach Tom Tone is the 2022 DCL Coach-of-the-Year.

Besides Miles, three football players – all senior linemen – received all-conference honors, encompassing the DCL’s small- and large-school divisions: Jamie Buchannan (Lineman of the Year), Ryan Cohen (Defensive Player of the Year), and Chris Puglielli.

Two underclassmen, also linemen, were named all-stars of the DCL’s Foley Division: junior Dylan Lykins and sophomore Shamus Miller.

Five members of the boys’ soccer team – MIAA Division 2 state semifinalist – were honored by the DCL. Senior Tomas Ou and sophomore Spencer Goss were all-conference players, and seniors Ansh Aggarwal and Devandar Kaushik and junior Miles Herzog were all-stars.

Besides Cox, girls’ soccer Buccaneers recognized were Sophie Shelton and Sarah Tonini as all-stars. Two of Zovko’s volleyball teammates, Kate Heller and Elora Syed, were also named all-stars.

Other fall all-stars were Olivia Disaronno, cheer; Addie Poulter and Carter Rauch, cross country; Sydney Poor, field hockey; and Aiden McEachern and Thomas Zildjian, golf.

Honors are bestowed through the votes of head coaches.
