Do you vicariously reflect on what it must be like to be Santa Claus?
Now is your chance to get a taste of the adulation and gratification that motivates the iconic Christmas Eve visitor to greater heights.
The Bedford Santa program is still short several volunteers to wear the suit early Saturday evening.
Neither experience nor a beard is required, said David Dalrymple, coordinator of the venerable program that has been synonymous with Bedford for eight decades. Pre-deployment training is offered, along with appropriate clothing. Volunteers as young as 11th graders are welcome, he said.
Each Santa team follows a scheduled route, and the entire commitment is less than four hours, starting at 4 p.m., Dalrymple said. There are also opportunities for volunteers who prefer to be out of the spotlight.
Prospective volunteers can reach out to Dalrymple at 781-275-8558 or [email protected].
Volunteers will join a multi-generational crew, including a judge, a legislator, retired military, and several students.
