Registration continues for the annual Bedford Turkey Trot run and walk, scheduled for Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 24, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at John Glenn Middle School.

Once any expenses are covered, all proceeds benefit the Bedford Community Table/Pantry, Inc., the financial arm of the Bedford Food Pantry.

The Turkey Trot consists of a five-kilometer run and a two-mile walk.

“This is a great way to kick off Thanksgiving and the holiday season and donate much-needed funds to a good cause,” said Chuck Connell, race director. “This is a friendly fun-run/walk. There are no timing chips or VIP tents – just nice people and a good cause.”

The maximum number of runners will be 250 and there is no limit for walkers. Children up to age 12 register at a discounted fee.

The race website facilitates donations to particular runners, helping them build individual and team fundraising goals.

Volunteers are needed to help execute the race; organizers say most jobs finish in an hour. Sign up for volunteering at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A094EAAAE2DA4FB6-2022.

The primary sponsor again this year is Callahan’s Karate family martial arts center. Information about other sponsorships is available by writing [email protected]

“The Turkey Trot is the only fundraiser that we conduct, and it usually raises $10,000-$15,000, a significant contribution to the Food Bank’s needs,” noted Jan Pendleton, President of Bedford Community Table/Pantry, Inc.

“It’s also a beloved community tradition, and it wouldn’t happen without Chuck Connell’s energetic leadership and the ongoing support of our primary sponsor, Callahan’s Karate,” she continued. “They and all the participants and other donors are part of what makes Bedford such a special town.”

Pickup of race shirts and numbers will be at Callahan’s, 20 North Road, Unit 3, on Nov. 23 from 3 to 7 p.m.
