Letter to the Editor: Appreciating Bedford’s Recreation Commissioners, Past and Present

Submitted by Amy Hamilton, Director of Recreation
[Editor’s Note: Hamilton will retire on May 31, 2022]

Boards and committees view their roles in many different ways.

I have been fortunate that the Recreation Commission has always viewed its role as part of the team.  The Commissioners have always supported the department and those of us working for the department.

When faced with challenges, the Recreation Commissioners have worked with the department to find solutions.  When presented with opportunities and ideas, the Recreation Commissioners have embraced and chased them with us.

I am wholeheartedly grateful to all of the Commissioners with whom I have had the great pleasure to work over the past several decades; I would like to send a special note of appreciation to Ron Richter who has been a Commissioner for more than two decades and whose solid commitment to finding “something for everyone” has never wavered.

To all of you who have contributed so much to the residents of Bedford through your Recreation Commission volunteer experiences, thank you.

Amy…The Town of Bedford will miss your enthusiasm and your desire to make Bedford Recreation work for all Peoples plus keeping the cost at a minimum while managing most all the programs with the help from Raeanne and all of your Staff.
You and I have worked together for many years and I am very impressed with your organizational qualities and thank you for being who you are, you deserve five *****,
Barbara
