Please join me in supporting Mrs. Emily Mitchell for another term on the Bedford Select Board. She has done a lot of positive work for our town and will continue to work hard on behalf of our community.
I voted for her first term in office having known her for over ten years as we are both member of St. Paul’s church on Pine Hill Road. Emily has been heavily involved in running our Parish and continues to support our Church today by running our monthly High School Youth group and leading our parish teenagers on a yearly service trip. Suffice to say she enjoys volunteering and contributes her time for the benefit of others.
Having Emily serve another term on the Select Board would be to the benefit of Bedford. These past two years have been extremely challenging for us all and I appreciate the efforts of Emily and the Select Board to run their meetings remotely and open to the public so that our Town Government has continued to function throughout the Pandemic. Emily and her colleagues on the Select Board have maintained openness and public discourse that and allowed our local Democracy to flourish.
Emily has kept an open ear to our community and has advanced ideas and made progress that has impacted our town. She approved permits for outdoor dining which has helped keep local businesses running through the Pandemic and made it easier for residents to enjoy our local restaurants in the warm months. Emily supports Safe Routes to School and has worked on expanding the sidewalk network in town. Having additional routes for walking is not just a safety concern, but also improves the quality of life for us all.
Emily has also worked on making our town more inclusive. We now have free menstrual products available in the town restrooms. This is an issue of basic hygiene and while restrooms generally come equipped with toilet paper, feminine products have tended to be excluded and I thank Emily and the Select Board for considering making this improvement.
A vote for Emily will secure her talent and enthusiasm in managing our great town.
