~ Submitted by the Bedford Free Public Library and the Parents Diversity Council

The Bedford Free Public Library and the Parents Diversity Council are pleased to collaborate in presenting an online Diwali Celebration, Let’s Light a Diya!, at 11 AM on Saturday, November 6, This event will take place over Zoom and will include some stories, a puppet show, and a presentation about Diwali, along with craft kits that celebrate some of the important elements of Diwali.

The Diwali celebration is a Cultural Mosaic event sponsored by the Parents Diversity Council to highlight various cultures.

South Asian families expressed an interest in sharing their traditions of Diwali, one of the most important holidays of the Hindu religion. With Covid-19 curtailing so many celebrations, the online Diwali celebration turned out to be a great way for families to learn and celebrate together.  The PDC is excited to be partnering with the Bedford Free Public Library this year to continue to bring this celebration to local families.

Families are invited to pick up craft kits in the Children’s Room in the Bedford Library, starting Wednesday, Nov. 3.

The celebration starts at 11 AM on Saturday, November 6. The Zoom meeting ID is 891 7900 8728, and the passcode is 089119.

The Parents Diversity Council looks forward to welcoming your family to Saturday’s virtual celebration.
