Bedford Schools to Begin DESE-funded COVID-19 Testing Program on Monday, October 4

Superintendent of Schools Philip Conrad shared a message from Tracy Fernald, Nurse Leader Bedford Public Schools on Friday, October 1, 2021

We are happy to announce that we will be starting the DESE-funded COVID-19 testing program next week on Monday, October 4, 2021.

  1. Weekly COVID-19 testing (AKA pooled testing, COVID safety checks): This is a weekly COVID-19 (nasal swab) test to screen asymptomatic students and staff for COVID-19.
  2. Symptomatic Testing: rapid antigen testing done at school in the event that your child develops symptoms while in school.
  3. Test to stay- rapid antigen testing done at school. This is for unvaccinated individuals who are identified as close contacts in the school setting only.

We will start the program by testing one grade at each school.  Starting the week of October 4th,  we will test grade 2 at Davis School, grade 5 at Lane School, grade 6 at JGMS, and grade 9 at BHS.  We will be testing all grades weekly starting the week of October 11th.   The school nurses in addition to on-site testers from CIC will be doing the testing.
