Bedford Bucs Senior Babe Ruth team finished 3rd in the overall regular-season standings, with an 8-5-1 record.  The Senior Bucs, who had a league-low Runs Against total (35) had a strong regular season in a competitive league, courtesy of excellent pitching and defense.

Game 1 of the single-elimination playoffs took place on Sunday evening against Wakefield.  The Bucs remained tied 1-1 for most of the game thanks to Chris Venuti, who turned in a dominating, complete-game pitching performance.  Venuti kept the Wakefield hitters off balance all night and was supported by the Bucs stellar defense.  Peter Kapanides, Adam O’Brien, James Brosgol, Matt Carluccio, Jack Venuti, Jesse Collins, and Andrew Sullivan all pitched in to provide a solid defensive performance.

The Bucs ultimately won in a 7th inning dramatic 2-1 walk-off victory over Wakefield.  After Dylan DiGangi reached base on an error and stole second, Nick Solitro hit a laser to left-center, just out of the reach of the diving center fielder, to drive in the winning run.

The Senior Bucs play game 2 of the playoffs on Monday (at Winchester, Skillings Field at 7 pm), for a chance to play in the League Championship Game on Wednesday (location/time TBD).
