June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month is celebrated in June to commemorate the events of June 1969 at the Stonewall Inn and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for LGBTQ+ Americans. It also a commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. In 1998, President Clinton issued the first Presidential proclamation expanding equal opportunity employment in the Federal government to include Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Americans.  In 2009, President Obama issued a proclamation that called on the people of the United States to “turn back discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists.” For more information about the history of Pride Month please visit Library of Congress Pride Month

COVID-19 Vaccination

We are happy to report that the rates of vaccinations continue to grow at a steady pace! To date nearly 25% of the sixth grade class has gotten vaccinated and the numbers rise from there with the seniors and juniors each over 60%. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated.

Pool Testing

This week was our third  week using home saliva kits through Veritas Genetics.  We will continue this process through the remainder of the school year, and collection day will be every Thursday morning.  At this point everyone who has signed up should have enough kits to last 3 more rounds of testing.  Please reach out to your school nurse if you need more kits.

Thank you to everyone who participated and returned their sample on Thursday morning.  No news is good news and so far we have not had any positive pool results.  We will let you know if your child’s sample resulted in a positive result.

It is not too late to sign up for pooled testing!  All staff and students may sign up at any time. Please consider signing up your child for asymptomatic testing  With this new process if there is a positive pool the lab will be able to identify the positive case from the original sample and there will be no need to be called back in for retesting or quarantine while waiting for a re-test. If interested please see the following information to enroll your child: Pool Testing
