New Story Walks® at the Library ~ First Up? Big Bug by Henry Cole

The library’s first ‘Story Walk’ made its debut during Bedford’s Summer Walkabout in 2018

The Library just installed the first of six planned official StoryWalks® around the building.  This project has been funded by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Sunny days are ahead, and a StoryWalk® is the perfect opportunity for families to experience a book outdoors.

Big Bug by Henry Cole will kick off the new series of Story Walks at the Bedford Free Public Library

Our first featured title is Big Bug, by Henry Cole, which leads readers through a farm by zooming out from a picture of a big bug all the way to the big, big sky.  The farm looks small until zooming back in and finding a small, cozy spot for a nap.  The springtime weather is a perfect complement to the flowers and trees in the story.

Each StoryWalk® will remain on display for several weeks before changing to a new book for families to explore.

Families can look forward to future books including Elephants Cannot Dance, by Mo Willems, You Matter, by Christian Robinson, and Rosie’s Walk, by Pat Hutchins.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.  StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

The StoryWalk ® project has been funded by a grant from the Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
