What began as Lowell’s typical April 24 Remembrance Day of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 with the traditional raising of the Armenian flag at City Hall Plaza became a day of hope, because this year was different: President Biden included the word Genocide in his memorial remarks, the first time an American President has done so.

A collective response of “at last” and “finally,” transformed the solemn occasion into an expression of truth in a determined march toward justice.

Armenians from surrounding towns were in attendance including several families from Bedford.
